Hey fellow Tapped Out fans I’m mysteryblogman, the new writer and this is my first post.
Well I could do anything for my first post, quest lines or game details but I’ll do a Simpsons VHS review.
The episodes on this tape are from season 1 and they are Life in the Fast Lane and The Telltale Head
Before I get into the review I want to acknowledge the delightfully silly Bart vs the Space Mutants NES game and the back cover. You can see the commercial here
The back cover says…well look at it for yourself!
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE
Marge Simpson as you’ve never seen her! A bored housewife out for fast kicks! A wild, reckless joyride that can only end up in the gutter. Viewer discretion advised.
THE TELLTALE HEAD
HEAR-the stark confessions of Bart Simpson, juvenile delinquent! SEE-the thoughtless act of vandalism that turns the whole town against him! LEARN-a lesson or two about empty thrills and stolen thrills!
Wow. It sounds like a 1950s movie tag line. But wait, there’s more! The banner down the bottom says The Simpsons, Fun for everyone! (Except the Adults Only episodes on late!)
Well. Not that last part. Lets get on to the episodes!
Life in the Fast lane has Bart and Lisa waking up on Marge’s birthday to give her breakfast in bed. Homer also wakes up and thinks its his birthday and discovering he forgot Marge’s birthday. Homer races to the Mall to get a gift. He order a custom bowling ball (made with holes for him and his names on it).
The party is later that night at the Singing Sirloin (2nd friend prize on Tapped Out) Everyone (everyone meaning Patty and Selma and the kids) shows up. Bart got French perfume ($4 off the Internet) Lisa made her a macaroni and pasta card and Homer gives Marge the ball which brakes the box and falls onto the cake.
After that night Marge is mad and takes up bowling and meets the love interest of the episode, Shak. He teaches Marge to bowl and also has a crush on Marge. They both go out bowling everyday until they have a brunch date when Helen Lovejoy shows up and they cover it up with a short bowling lesson.
The next day they organise a real date, but one of the best endings happen when Marge blows off the date to go see Homer at the plant. It’s such an awesome ending to and awesome episode. Go see it for yourself.
The Telltale Head starts with Bart and Homer getting chased by several angry mobs while carrying Jedibiah Springfield’s head. Bart then retells the story to the angry mob.
Bart asks Homer for $5 to see Space Mutants IV The Trilogy Continues and meets Jimbo, Dolph and Kearney. They all sneak in to the movie but are kicked out.
They go to the Kwik-e-mart to get Squishees. The bullies steal stuff such as Playdude, beef jerky and chocolate.
In an actually unexpected twist they all go look at clouds. I really don’t know ether. Bart sees a cloud that looks like Jedibah Springfield’s without his head. They also discuss cutting off Jedibah’s head. Bart goes home thinking about that.
Later that night Bart cuts off the head of Jedibah’s head and takes it home.
That afternoon Bart takes the head to the bullies and what’s to show them but finds out they would bash him up if he had the head.
He shows Homer and takes the head back but are chased by the angry mobs. He is chased to the statue and tells the story of how he got the head and the mobs let him go.
While it’s not the best episode, it’s still good.
My final thought: Enjoyable, 4 out of 5 or 8.5 Out of 10
That concludes my giant review of The Simpsons Collection VHS: Life in the Fast Lane and The Telltale Head.
